A family history since 1871

Our domaine

Jean Dirler founded the Dirler Wines by setting up as a “gourmet” in the village of Bergholtz. Jean, Georges, Georges, Jean-Pierre and today Jean constitute the five successive generations of winemakers.

In 1998 Jean married Ludivine, daughter of Léon and Nicole Hell-Cadé, winemakers in Guebwiller.
From the 2000 vintage onwards, the estate took over the vineyards of Ludivine’s parents and the name Dirler-Cadé was adopted.

In Bergholtz, Dirler-Cadé expresses the personality of Alsatian terroirs

The Domaine DIRLER-CADE is located in France, in Alsace, in the small village of Bergholtz (about 1000 inhabitants), 3 km North-East of the small town of Guebwiller (11500 inhabitants).

Guebwiller is the gateway to the charming Florival valley which leads to the summits of the High Vosges.
We are located exactly halfway (25 km) from the cities of Colmar and Mulhouse.

Carte de L'Alsace

Organic & Biodynamic as a matter of course

All the plots of the estate have been cultivated organically and biodynamically since 1998, in order to best express the exceptional personality of these terroirs.

In many parcels, we plough partially in autumn and completely in spring (destruction of the superficial roots) and let the natural grassing be reconstituted in summer to avoid important gullies and to recreate an ecosystem to avoid important gullies and to recreate an ecosystem.

The vinification

“Wine is made in the vineyard”: To make a good wine, you need to harvest fully phenolically ripe grapes from healthy, well-rooted vines. Before deciding on the date of harvest, we monitor each plot, tasting the grapes and measuring their probable alcohol content.

The aim of the Bio-Dynamic winegrower through his specific cultivation of the vine is to produce a high quality wine with its own characteristics derived from the unique elements that form the terroir of each estate. The wine will be the expression of this because the qualities and particularities of the terroir will be respected.
